Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in collaboration with Transplant Links UK has performed kidney transplantation for four patients with kidney failures.
The feat was announced on the official Facebook page of the renowned hospital. According to the report, three males and a female who were being sustained by dialysis machines are now currently doing well.
For all the four patients, family members offered to make the kidney donations. Prior to the procedure, the donors were tested and ensured fit for the donation.
The donor operations were carried out through a keyhole surgery technique, which meant that they did not have to spend long hours in hospital after the operation.
It was indicated that the kidney transplant team at KBTH was led by surgeons Dr Bernard Morton and Dr James Edward Mensah. Kidney experts by name Dr Vincent Bioma and Dr Dwomoa Adu were also available to offer their expertise.
The transplantation was funded by First Sky Group. The group has been at their work since 2016 and has donated 11 million and a brand-new Toyota Hilux pickup to the Renal Dialysis Unit.
According to the report, the donation has benefited thousands of patients receiving free dialysis on a weekly basis.
Reports also make it clear that the Transplant Links team has worked with the Korle Bu Hospital since 2008 and many patients have already benefited. The patients who included three males and a female are currently doing well.
